I HAVE BEEN PLAYING HOOKEY

I have been absent due to a serious case of hookey fun and it is all due to these wonderful blog sites.

My lys (local yarn shops) are loving it.

I take my stash outside, under a tree, with a glass of ice cold lemonade and crochet as I listen to summer buzz around me. It is heaven and I am loving it.

This is my first bag from Lucy @ attic 24.
It was humongous. Lots of fun, but HUGE.
You could use this as a car top carrier.
I call this my Olivia bag as my granddaughter loves it.

This bag is much smaller, used smaller hook and less rounds. More my style.

After visiting Ravelry daily, I saw this little cutie by Susan B Anderson and of course had to do one. This is a real simple pattern and fun to do. My hands were achy and tired from all the crochet, so I thought I try knitting for a spell.

I wonder if she would like to go to the state fair.

I am currently working up these cuties for my granddaughters.
Pattern is from itty-bitty toys by Susan B Anderson.

They don't get much cutier than this.

and.......I have this yummy project waiting from me outside on the deck right now.

No this is not a crochet or knitting blog, but it sure is a lot of fun.
Hope you are having as much fun as I am this summer.

More reading.

Wow, I am on a reading kick and can't seem to stop. Two more really good books. After reading Saving CeCe Honeycutt, I just didn't want to leave the South. So I read the Kitchen House, while this is a really good page turner, it is very tragic.
Then I moved on to Prayers for Sale, another great read. Both books I would recommend.

Nope this is not a reading blog, but it is what I am doing at the moment. I am also knitting socks again, and will post my results very soon.

We were lucky enough to be at the cottage this past weekend. Trees are just starting to pop out, but it is still spring in northern Michigan and that means summer is not far behind. Our daughter's family helped us spring clean the cottage inside and out which was awesome. Believe it or not, the kids actually went in Lake Huron which had ice only a month ago. They weren't in very long, but it was a very hot day and after all that cleaning they thought a quick dip would be just the ticket. It was fun to watch and we had warm beach towels ready when they came out.

We have no internet at the cottage and I am checking into the Ipad. This looks like it will be my answer as I do not have to sign a contract for the 3 g network. Things are really looking up.

Hope you are having a wonderful spring too.

Great Read

I read this book in 2 days. Wow. It is wonderful. If you loved the HELP you will love this book. It is a Southern charmer. The characters are rich and fascinating. You will laugh and cry with this wonderful, hard-to-put down book.

Now I don't have a book to read, any suggestions?

Finished

I have finally finished my squares for the stitch along which is a good thing as the weather is too irresistible to stay inside. This was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it.
Learned a lot of new stitches and it was so much fun seeing all the other talented artists.
Now I am going for a walk with Heidi who is begging to go outside.

I have been eyeing up these beauties as something to keep my hands busy while watching baseball games.

Lazy Saturday afternoon

Pattern taken from a fabulous Japanese book I found yesterday.

I found this little gem yesterday on my day out in Metamora which is a tiny little village.

Hope you are having a wonderful lazy Saturday afternoon.
After getting some inspiration from a wonderful stitching studio I found yesterday, I am ready to stitch again. I found lots of treasures and the sweetest little Japanese embroidery book. I wish I could tell you the name of it, but it is in Japanese. I am so excited about this little book and I will be do some stitching from it for my stitch along.
My sampler will have a few more squares than 39. Not sure how many squares yet and I am not sure how I will finish it. It will come to me.

After a fun afternoon of stitching, I am going to sit back with a cup of green tea.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Time to get moving

Well it has finally stopped raining and it is time to get moving. Outdoors that is.
Maybe even fly a kite.

I have a few more squares to do in my sampler. It has been a fun venture and one I have enjoyed very much.

I am looking ahead to my next project.

Happy Easter

Enjoying Easter with my family. We are having so much fun with the family. The kids had a fun Easter egg hunt early this morning. It was so much fun watching the kids running around looking for clues in their Easter eggs. Lots of Easter goodness.

Hope you are having a wonderful Easter.

Dandelion

A field of dandelions is so pretty......to me. I know, lots of people don't like the little yellow stinkers.... including some of my young grandchildren. Every year we run around the yard, some are protecting the dandelions and others are plucking. We always end of up laughing so it is quite fun, especially when you have new light-up shoes just for stomping.

Thinking ahead

grass is turning green,
before you know it,
we will be hunting for morel mushrooms.
I do love this time of the year.

Chocolate Bunny Ears

Do you remember those chocolate bunnies at Easter?

For me the ears were always the best.

Went Easter bunny shopping yesterday. It was fun but wow, the shelves are pretty empty.

There were still those cute chocolate Easter bunnies thank goodness.

So for the stitch along, had to do chocolate bunny ears.

Now, if I could just eat a chocolate nose, I would be happy.

Have a fun day.

yellow fluff

When I was in JoAnn Fabrics the other day, I couldn't resist those darn little easter chicks for easter baskets. Every year they become cuter and cuter. Always brings back memories of when I was a kid. I used to love getting those little chicks.

So naturally I had to stitch one for the stitch along. This little guy was needle punched with one strand of Weeks hand dyed embroidery thread. I love the fluffiness of this little chick.

Hope you have a wonderfully day.

Stitching and Taking it Easy

Life is good when you can slow down and spend a few hours stitching.

Thistle head with a small bee. I have spring fever bad.
For Michigan this is early, but I am looking for dandelions next.
Enjoy your day.

New beginnings

Everything seems so fresh outside and the birds are busy building nests. I love this time of year. Our temps could get in the high 70's later this week, so hopefully, I will be able to get some interesting pics of our outdoor friends.

Did a little stitching over the weekend, more to come for the stitch along.

Saw this movie last night and it was very good.

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday.

Happy first day of Spring!

Yea! It is official.
Although it is cloudy, cold and a few snow flakes in the air, the birds are singing and the calendar says it is the first day of spring. I am happy.
Here are a few more squares for the stitch along.
